Florida Governor’s School for Science, Mathematics and Space Technology 2008 Summer Academy at Kennedy Space Center June 1- June 6, 2008 and June 29 – July 4, 2008
The Florida Governor’s School for Science, Mathematics and Space Technology will partner with NASA,Space Florida and Delaware North Parks and Recreation, Inc to provide selected rising 10th-12th grade gifted students with the opportunity to participate in a residential academy at Kennedy Space Center.
Students will engage in exciting laboratory activities, scientific experiments and inquiry based learning incorporating high-level science and math curriculum. Classroom, lab and in-the-field science experiments will include:
Learning about Global Positioning Systems Constructing Two Payloads then Test & Launch Scientific Weather Balloon Participating in Astronaut Team-Building Experiencing actual Shuttle Launch Simulation Interactions with Astronaut Space Launch Case Study Working side-by-side with NASA engineers solving real-word challenges encountered by NASA
Activities will begin on Sunday afternoon with an orientation and tour and will conclude Friday afternoon with project presentations to a panel of NASA engineers and VIPs!
