Gifted Advocacy Council Hosts Speaker on Gifted Education in Florida

(Tampa, FL) – A leader in advocacy for gifted education, Terry Stetson Wilson, will be the featured speaker at a meeting for parents and educators of gifted students, hosted by the Gifted Advocacy Council of Hillsborough (GACH), Inc. Her talk will include information on a proposed revision to Florida’s gifted identification rule, current trends in gifted education, and a question and answer session. “We are so pleased to have Terry come and speak to our membership. She has been the Director of the Florida Gifted Network since 1991 and is an extremely knowledgeable resource on the current legislation and policies affecting gifted students,” said GACH President, Stephanie Georgiades. “Part of the GACH mission is to inform and unite parents of gifted students in Hillsborough County. We’ve heard from many of our members that gifted students are underserved, and parents need tools to fight this. Terry Wilson’s talk will give them concrete information on how the law treats gifted students in Florida, and how they can influence the law,” added Georgiades. Ms. Wilson will appear at the first quarterly meeting of GACH, Inc. on Saturday, September 15, 9:30 a.m. to noon, at MacFarlane Park Magnet School for International Studies, 1721 N. MacDill Ave., Tampa, FL 33607. Registration by September 8 is required. For information on joining GACH and to register for the September 15 meeting, please visit http://www.GACHFlorida.org.
